Maintenance Technician

Overview

The Maintenance Technician is an essential employee responsible for maintenance of facility equipment in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Plant overnight to ensure proper function during normal work hours. The Maintenance Technician is a member of the MRF Plant Operations and reports directly to the MRF Plant Maintenance Manager and MRF Plant Operations Manager.

Essential Functions

• Properly maintain facility equipment
• Conduct routine system and equipment cleanings
• Welding experience, preferably in the mechanical space
• Operate facility equipment including forklifts and loaders
• Adhere to standards operating procedures and follow mandated guidelines for operating and maintaining equipment
• Report any on the job incidents or equipment malfunctions
• Complete any additionally assigned tasks by MRF Plant Maintenance Manager
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on recycling equipment and machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement effective solutions.
• Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the US
• Forklift certification
• Mechanical repair experience in an industrial setting
• Welding skills (MIG/Stick/Cutting)
• Heavy equipment certification
• Ability to operate a forklift and heavy equipment
• Ability to operate a loader preferred, but not required
• Ability to handle physical workload
• Ability to work overnight
• Ability to work outdoors
• Ability to work overtime and on weekends, if necessary
