Data Engineer

The company is hiring a Data Engineer to help modernize and optimize their data environment, improve data workflows, and strengthen the performance and reliability of internal analytics and reporting systems. This is a full-time direct hire role based in Bedminster, NJ with a hybrid work structure.

The Role You’ll Play

In this role, you will design, build, and enhance scalable data pipelines and reporting environments that directly support business analytics and operational efficiency. You will contribute to modernizing legacy systems, improving data quality, strengthening automation, and supporting critical internal projects that are central to company operations.

• Develop and maintain scripts and tools using Python, PowerShell, and R.

• Design, write, and optimize SQL and PL/SQL queries for scalability and performance.

• Modernize legacy solutions and realign them with current code practices and the modern tech stack.

• Support redevelopment, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of existing data, analytics, and reporting solutions.

• Ensure proper data integration across diverse sources and formats.

• Enhance and support database functions, procedures, and related components.

• Improve data workflows for performance, scalability, and efficiency.

• Implement data quality checks, validations, and monitoring processes.

• Troubleshoot data pipeline issues, identify root causes, and deliver long-term fixes.

• Navigate between production support tasks and development work depending on business needs.

• Deploy code to non-production and production environments using engineering best practices and CI/CD tools.

Background Profile:

The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Python and SQL engineering, as well as hands-on expertise with relational databases, scripting, and modern data tools. They thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving environment and can work across teams to deliver reliable data solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

• 4+ years of professional experience as a Python Developer, Data Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or similar role.

• 4+ years of continuous experience coding in Python.

• 3+ years of SQL and PL/SQL development experience.

• 3+ years working with relational databases (Oracle strongly preferred).

• 2+ years of PowerShell scripting experience.

• Experience programming in R.

• Experience with web application frameworks (Shiny, Dash, Streamlit).

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Git/Azure DevOps.

• Familiarity with Parquet, Arrow, Avro, or similar formats.

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; ability to determine the root cause in unfamiliar systems.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience with Spark, Kafka, or Azure Data Factory (ADF).

• Experience working with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cosmos DB, DocumentDB).

• Experience with SAS, Java, Scala, or .NET.
