Job Overview:
Join our dedicated team as an Emergency Management and Environment of Care Specialist, where you will play a vital role in maintaining our hospital's state of operational readiness. Under the direction of the Assistant VP of Support Services, you will coordinate crucial safety programs, manage campus equipment, and ensure full compliance across multiple facility environments. This is a dynamic, hands-on opportunity to protect our staff, patients, and local communities during extraordinary internal or external events.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate Degree from an accredited institution.
- Prior functional experience in safety, emergency management, fire department operations, hazardous materials, or emergency medical services (EMS).
- Valid, unencumbered Driver’s License.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong working knowledge of the MS Office suite.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects, adhere to strict deadlines, and maintain highly sensitive, confidential information.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Prior experience in healthcare facility safety or environment of care operations.
- Completed Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training.
- Active Hazardous Materials (HazMat) response training or certifications.

Essential Functions:
- Coordinate Environment of Care (EOC) and Safety activities across major functional departments, including Security, Risk Management, Facilities, Employee Health, and Infection Control.
- Manage the physical updates, documentation, and compliance process for EOC policies, procedures, and the hospital Safety Manual via the annual review cycle.
- Prepare and maintain Quarterly Performance Improvement Monitors, dashboards, and annual appraisals for Joint Commission compliance and mock surveys.
- Manage operations at the WSC and NPC campus morgues, including monitoring decedent flow, arranging hospital-paid infant burials, and responding to refrigeration temperature alerts.
- Maintain, inspect, and track all Emergency Management equipment, supplies, and vehicles housed in trailers, decontamination rooms, and specialized storage sheds.
- Oversee the hospital's two-way radio communication systems, ensuring functional operation, providing hardware procurement specifications, and maintaining FCC licenses.
- Coordinate and conduct the annual EOC training and drill plans, including fire drills, safety rounds, Hazwoper training for EVS, and emergency decontamination drills.
- Assist the Assistant VP of Support Services with Emergency Management grant research, tracking, and compliance reporting (including HPRP and UASI grants).
- Serve as an active member of the Incident Command team, tracking events telephonically or on-site, and responding to hospital Facility Alert events as needed.
- Liaise with property managers to oversee contracted janitorial services, order supplies, process management invoices, and maintain medical center motor vehicle records.
