ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Monmouth County boutique law firm is seeking a full-time Paralegal or Legal Assistant. An ideal candidate for this position must be a self-starter, highly energetic, organized, detail-oriented, project-driven and willing and able to take final ownership of content delivered to management. Candidate should be familiar with general practice and litigation. The candidate will also assist the Legal Department with general in-house tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, staff, attorneys, adversaries and court personnel
• Interview clients; meet with clients to prepare answer to interrogatories and discovery
• Set up and maintain files
• Prepare pleadings, discovery, Arbitration statements
• Communicate with insurance carriers and medical providers
• Identify matters to be escalated

• Must be a self-starter
• Impeccable integrity and a demonstrated ability to maintain the strictest level of confidentiality
• Exemplary interpersonal skills
• Superior writing and proofreading capabilities, inclusive of a legal/technical nature
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Sound judgment and ability to prioritize under pressure
• Excellent decision-making/problem-solving abilities
• Consistent thoroughness/attention to detail

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• 5 years+ experience as a paralegal/legal assistant required
• Knowledge of Plaintiff Personal Injury law – pleadings, court procedures, e-filing
• Paralegal or Legal Studies Certificate preferred, but not required
• Computer skills including a strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs
• Candidates may be asked to demonstrate writing ability and are invited to present writing samples
