Our law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Paralegal to join our team in managing and maintaining civil files for our attorneys. As a Civil Paralegal, you will play a critical role in supporting attorneys throughout the various stages of civil lawsuits, ensuring all files are accurately prepared, and deadlines are met. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of civil law procedures, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare civil files for lawsuits in the pre-suit stage, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Maintain statute of limitations calendar and other deadlines, keeping attorneys informed of critical dates.
Manage discovery due dates and case status for all files.
Draft and file various legal documents, including complaints, answers, motions, and correspondence.
Act as the attorney's primary point of contact with clients, adjustors, attorneys, and court staff.
Independently manage tasks and priorities for each file.
Diary court appearances for attorneys and maintain an organized calendar.
Prepare civil cases for settlement and disbursement, ensuring adherence to legal procedures.
Utilize computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, calendar entry, diary entry, internet research, and legal practice management software.
Qualifications:
1 year or more of experience in the field or relevant area of study (preferred but not required).
Knowledge of e-courts filing system and Amicus Attorney (preferred but not required).
Strong emphasis on organization and independent work skills.
Excellent legal writing and research abilities.
Leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
