Vibration and Thermography Specialist
This is not an entry-level predictive maintenance role. You will serve as the technical authority on vibration analysis and infrared thermography for a regulated life sciences facility in Rahway, NJ, diagnosing complex failure modes on critical rotating equipment and driving proactive reliability strategies. If you are not already a certified expert who can operate independently from day one, this position will exceed your current skill level.
You must hold ISO Category I, II, III, or IV Vibration Analysis certification before you apply. If you have Category I or II only, you must also bring 10–15 years of deep, hands-on predictive maintenance and vibration analysis experience to compensate — we will not consider recently certified analysts without this depth. Category III or IV certification is strongly preferred because you will immediately own advanced diagnostics across motors, pumps, compressors, fans, and gearboxes without supervision.
You will perform infrared thermographic inspections across electrical, mechanical, and process systems. While IR certification is preferred, you must at minimum have equivalent real-world IR experience. If you have never used thermography to identify electrical anomalies or mechanical hot spots in a production environment, you will struggle to keep pace.
This role demands fluency in advanced vibration techniques including FFT, waveform analysis, phase analysis, and resonance diagnostics. You will diagnose bearing failures, misalignment, imbalance, and electrical faults — and you must do so accurately and quickly. If you rely heavily on vendor support or senior analysts to interpret your data, this environment will feel isolating.
You will lead root cause failure analysis and implement failure elimination strategies. This is not a data collection role. You must be capable of translating diagnostic findings into actionable engineering recommendations and partnering with cross-functional teams on capital projects and equipment upgrades.
You must have 5–10+ years of reliability engineering or rotating equipment analysis experience, ideally in pharma, life sciences, or similarly regulated industries where documentation rigor and compliance are non-negotiable. You will work within CMMS systems and predictive maintenance software daily — if you are not already proficient, onboarding will be difficult.
This position also requires mentoring junior analysts and contributing to long-term reliability strategy and continuous improvement initiatives. If you prefer purely technical work without leadership responsibility, this role will stretch you beyond your comfort zone.
If you meet these standards, you will have significant influence over asset performance and uptime in a mission-critical environment.
