Vice President - Data Risk Management Lead for Data Protection
Job Description
Join our Firmwide Data Protection Management and Governance team and play a pivotal role in ensuring our organization meets data protection policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. You’ll collaborate with key stakeholders, develop innovative solutions, and help shape the future of data privacy and protection across the firm.
As a Vice President in Firmwide Data Protection Management and Governance, you will partner with business, technology, legal, and compliance teams to design, execute, and oversee data protection and privacy initiatives. You will drive project delivery, develop metrics, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, supporting the firm’s data governance strategy.
Job responsibilities:
- Develop and/or assist in defining project requirements and deliverables by identifying, driving, and participating in project milestones and phases, as well as specific action items related to Data Protection and Privacy.
- Execute on the delivery of key requirements and deliverables.
- Communicate with senior management to report on the progress of regulatory programs and provide actionable recommendations that support the Firm’s Data Governance strategy.
- Develop effective presentations and project updates tailored for senior management.
- Actively participate and collaborate in workstream meetings and ad hoc working sessions, including driving agendas, preparing meeting minutes, and tracking agreed actions.
- Utilize Excel and other data analytics tools to analyze data, generate actionable insights, and support robust data protection governance, privacy compliance as well as informed business decision-making.
- Partner with the Firmwide Privacy Office to support and implement key Data Protection and Privacy initiatives and ensure compliance with Privacy and Protection regulatory requirements.
- Partner with LOB/CFs, Technology, Legal, and Compliance groups to define, develop and implement data protection, privacy and data access solutions.
- Monitor the details and status of Firmwide Data Protection projects, escalating and resolving any project issues efficiently.
- Leverage visualization tools such as Qlik or Tableau to visualize data and information and/or Alteryx or similar tools to create workflows.
- Demonstrate proficiency in cleaning, transforming, and merging data from diverse sources (databases, APIs, Excel, PDFs) to create unified datasets for analysis.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Experience in Data Risk Management, Data Protection, Privacy, or Data Access Governance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex protection concepts and solutions.
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups; experience with Alteryx, Python, or other data integration tools for data analysis and automation.
- Proficient with project management tools and presentation skills, including Word and PowerPoint.
- Proficient in data visualization and reporting tools.
- Experience working in an Agile environment defining product requirements with LOB/CFs and partnering with technology teams to deliver effective solutions.
- Expertise in project management disciplines with the ability to instill structure, process, accountability, and delivery within tight timelines.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills; comfortable working and partnering with people at all levels and across all functional areas (Legal, Compliance, Controls, Technology, LOB/CFs).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of protection or privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, DOJ Bulk Transfer Rule, CCPA) and data protection frameworks.
- Experience with data cleaning, transformation, and merging from diverse sources.
- Strong data analysis, data management, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a changing work environment and apply critical thinking to shape program approaches.
- Understanding of key principles of cyber security, including encryption, network security, and firewalls.
