About the Role:

The LTL Dispatch role is critical in ensuring the efficient coordination and management of less-than-truckload freight shipments across the United States. This position involves overseeing the scheduling, routing, and communication between drivers, customers, and carriers to guarantee timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimizing load assignments, resolving logistical challenges, and maintaining high service standards. By managing multiple shipments simultaneously, the dispatcher helps to maximize fleet utilization and minimize delays. Ultimately, this role contributes directly to customer satisfaction and the overall operational success of the transportation company.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in freight dispatching, preferably in LTL or trucking operations.
• Strong knowledge of transportation logistics and freight management.
• Proficiency with dispatch software and communication tools.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree or higher in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
• Experience with LTL freight carriers and understanding of industry regulations.
• Familiarity with GPS tracking systems and transportation management systems (TMS).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Customer service experience in a logistics or transportation environment.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and schedule LTL freight shipments to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and carriers to provide updates and resolve issues.
• Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any delays or disruptions in the supply chain.
• Optimize routing and load assignments to maximize efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
• Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, shipment details, and driver logs.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, operations, and customer service to support seamless freight movement.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations related to freight transportation.

Skills:

In this role, strong communication skills are essential for coordinating between drivers, customers, and internal teams to ensure smooth freight operations. Organizational skills are used daily to manage multiple shipments, schedules, and documentation accurately. Proficiency with dispatch and transportation management software enables efficient routing and real-time tracking of shipments. Problem-solving skills help address unexpected delays or logistical challenges promptly, minimizing impact on delivery timelines.
