About This Role

The Dogwood School is a well-established, play-based preschool in Chester, NJ, seeking a warm and nurturing Preschool Teacher Assistant to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year.

Our teachers and assistants work together to inspire children ages 2–3½ through hands-on learning, meaningful relationships, and daily exploration in our beautiful outdoor classrooms.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team, loves being outdoors, and is passionate about helping young children learn and grow through play.

This is a full-time position (8:00 AM–4:00 PM) from late August through early June, following the local school calendar. Summer employment is available but optional. Full-time employees are eligible for a 401(k). Compensation is $16–20 per hour, based on experience.

• Support the lead teacher in creating a warm, safe, and nurturing classroom.
• Assist with play-based learning activities.
• Build positive relationships with children and families.
• Work collaboratively with your teaching team.
• Supervise children indoors and in our outdoor classrooms.
• Help maintain a clean and organized classroom.
• Follow all health and safety requirements.

• Experience working with young children, preferably in a preschool setting.
• Warm, nurturing, and dependable.
• Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong communication skills.

• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience with play-based learning.
• Enjoy spending time outdoors in all seasons.
• Creativity, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
