Title:  Chemist I

Work Location:  Carlstadt, NJ

 

Color Materials group in Carlstadt, NJ focuses on inorganic materials chemistry R&D for the generation of novel decorative and functional materials.

 

The research chemist is responsible for developing new ideas, concepts, processes and products that generate significant returns for the company. The primary responsibility of the research chemist is to plan and execute high value research projects on time and to budget.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Strong commitment to environmental, health and safety excellence.
• Design, develop and realize new effect pigment products.
• Independently perform necessary laboratory experiments and deliver projects on time and on budget.
• Characterize and evaluate R&D concept samples via new and established laboratory test methods.
• Independent analysis and interpretation of experimental results; subsequent planning of experimental work as function of experimental data.
• Thorough documentation of laboratory experiments and preparation of technical reports.
• Collaborate with various other teams, such as applications science, technical service, analytical, manufacturing, marketing and product management to achieve technical targets.
• Effectively communicate with internal and external customers, demonstrate strong written and presentation skills.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

:

• Bachelor's / Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science.

• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent lab analysis including the interpretation of experimental data.

• Experience in inorganic chemistry specialization is preferred.
• Experience of the coatings and color cosmetics industries is desirable.
• Preferred technical skills include hands-on expertise in the synthesis of advanced functional materials (e.g. nanoparticles, structured composites) and thorough experimental knowledge of fine particles, surface and inorganic materials chemistry.
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency in critical thinking and data analysis.
• Strong time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines are critical.
• Proficiency with standard computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
• Relocation is not available for this position

 

Salary Range: 58K - 70K
