E&I Technician - 1st Class
As an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician - 1st Class, you will play a vital role in maintaining and optimizing facility operations by installing, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems. Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and repair facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Perform electrical preventive maintenance, repairs, and calibration in compliance with federal and state regulations and company policies.
- Interpret and utilize technical documentation such as P&IDs, loop sheets, and motor schematics.
- Access and read PLC/DCS program control logic to diagnose and resolve issues independently.
- Demonstrate knowledge of steam plant systems and subsystems related to power generation, including turbine generator controls.
- Initiate and complete work orders, requisitions, and document critical information routinely.
- Respond to emergency repairs during off-hours and travel to other company facilities as needed for technical support.
- Identify and implement improvement opportunities and assume additional responsibilities as required.
- Complete required corporate and plant training programs within prescribed timeframes.
- Use basic and precision measuring tools to perform maintenance tasks accurately.
- Follow standard safety procedures, address safety and environmental hazards, and report them promptly.
- Read and apply information from safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, job hazard analyses, and maintenance manuals.
- Work overtime and rotating shifts during outages or as requested.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment, anticipating and addressing potential or recurring problems.
- Operate industrial equipment such as forklifts, manlifts, skid steers, and other mobile machinery.
- Assist with training and development of junior E&I technicians.
- Maintain a positive work environment and foster effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, and vendors.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in industrial or power industry electrical and instrumentation maintenance, or at least 2 years’ experience as a 2nd class E&I Technician.
- Licenses as required to comply with state, environmental, or federal regulatory agencies.
- Proficient in using and maintaining hand tools and portable power tools for maintenance tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and control logic.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work overtime, rotating shifts, and respond to emergency repairs as needed.
- Physical ability to perform tasks including standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, operating equipment, and accessing confined spaces.
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, hard hats, safety shoes, and protective suits.
