Staff Accountant

Department: Finance / Accounting
Reports To: Accounting Manager or Controller

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger

• Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts

• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes

• Maintain and reconcile accounts such as prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed

• Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or variances

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls

• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations

• Assist with process improvements and automation initiatives

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 2–3 years of accounting experience (internships included)

• Public accounting or internship experience is a plus

Skills & Competencies:

• Basic understanding of GAAP principles

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) preferred

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Good communication and teamwork skills
