About Us:

Cold Technology’s Engineering group continues to grow as we lead the region in providing turn-key engineering, design, and implementation for the supermarket and retail food industry. We are currently working on high-impact projects for major regional and national brands. We are looking for an experienced Store Planner/Designer with solid knowledge of retail floor planning (especially in supermarkets), HVAC-R system layouts, and mechanical/electrical coordination.

This position offers the opportunity to utilize and expand your technical design skills while working in a multi-disciplined team environment with MEP engineers, architects, and project managers to prepare comprehensive design-build solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing and implementing innovative store designs that align with our clients’ brand identity and enhance the overall shopping experience.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including architects, merchandisers, and operations personnel, to ensure the seamless integration of design elements.
• Creating detailed design plans, including floor plans to maximize retail space utilization and operational efficiency and create lighting schemes with a focus on aesthetics and customer experience.
• Conducting existing site visits and assessments to gather information on store layouts, existing fixtures, retail space utilization, and MEP infrastructure in order to document those conditions in AutoCAD.
• Selecting appropriate equipment to execute client's merchandising strategies and create a shopping environment that will reflect our client's brand image.
• Staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve store design concepts and strategies.
• Collaborating with external vendors and contractors to ensure high-quality execution of design elements within specified guidelines.
• Managing project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective execution of store designs.
• Develop dynamic blocks, perform data extractions, and develop / maintain CAD standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is strongly preferred.
• Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Commercial Planning or a related field may also be considered.
• Proven experience as a Retail Store Designer, focus on supermarket design is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of supermarket layout optimization, merchandising principles, and customer flow management.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; 3D modeling software such as Revit and SketchUp is a plus.
• Ability to create compelling visual presentations and communicate design concepts effectively.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics and visual appeal.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
• A portfolio showcasing your previous retail store design projects is required, particularly designs in the supermarket sector are a plus.
