Food Manufacturing Urgently Hiring Packaging Machine Operators in Elmwood Park, NJ on First Shift and Second Shift
Location: Elmwood Park, NJ
Pay: $22-$24/hour ; Overtime: $33-$36/hour
Shift:
1st: 6am-2:30pm (Monday-Friday)
2nd: 2:00pm-10:30pm (Monday-Friday)
Job Description
As a Packaging Operator, you will be responsible for operating, setting up, and changing over machines such as Syntegon TTM’s and Elematics. You will troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, perform minor repairs, and replace parts such as belts, sensors, and other consumables. You will also coordinate with mechanics on major issues and escalate problems when necessary.

- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform minor repairs.
- Replace consumable parts such as belts and sensors.
- Coordinate with mechanics on major issues and escalate problems when necessary.
- Conduct basic inspections of running equipment to identify early signs of malfunction.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as minor adjustments and sensor replacement.
- Assist in preparing machines for planned maintenance by mechanics.
- Perform basic equipment checks, including routine visual inspections and cleaning.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of machine operation experience, preferably in food manufacturing or packaging.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools.
- Experience with GMP, packaging lines, and automated machinery.
- Ability to follow instructions on automated machinery and perform setups and changeovers.
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- Able to read and write in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills and ability to understand standard operating procedures.
- Comfortable with production software and reporting tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods and frequently push, pull, bend, and reach.
- Able to work in cold environments (56–59°ree;F) and handle frozen products (approx. 4°ree;F).
- Good vision (color, depth, peripheral) and manual dexterity required.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elmwood Park, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
