Job Title: Compliance Specialist

Reports to: Compliance Director (as designated by the Chief Compliance Officer or Vice President, Compliance)

Role:

The RWJBarnabas Health Compliance Department is seeking a professional with a strong background in healthcare, preferably healthcare compliance, to join our mission-driven organization.

The Compliance Specialist will support the Compliance Department to ensure the organization's adherence to applicable laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards by assisting the Corporate Compliance Department in Compliance Program activities, providing project management and supporting compliance initiatives across the organization.

Under the direction of the Compliance Director (as designated by the Chief Compliance Officer or Vice President, Compliance), the Compliance Specialist collaborates with cross-departmental teams to support the planning, coordination, implementation, reporting and evaluation of the Compliance Program projects and initiatives in support of strategic goals.

The Compliance Specialist is a dedicated team member, who can manage various assignments and projects, maintain clear and open communications, and collaborates well with others for effective follow-through.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Under the direction of the Compliance Director (as designated by the Chief Compliance Officer or Vice President, Compliance):

Support and assist the Compliance Department and Compliance Program activities and projects by maintaining action and work plans to ensure on-time completion and well-defined outcomes and results, including by not limited to:

  • Policies and procedures: Assist the Compliance Department in collecting, coordinating, updating policies and procedures (department and enterprise-wide) to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and ethical standards
  • Auditing and monitoring: Assist the Compliance Department with internal and external audits (eg collecting, coordinating, maintaining data and information)
  • Training and education: Assist the Compliance Department in administering and monitoring Compliance training programs for employees and external parties (eg joint venture partners, non-employees, contractors)
  • Documentation: Coordinate, organize, maintain Compliance documentation, records, and files in accordance with the Compliance Department s processes, protocols, and recordkeeping systems

Facilitate meetings among team members, key departments, and stakeholders, including preparing meeting materials, gathering and organizing information.

Track and report progress against set Compliance Program activities and projects and provides routine status reports to the Compliance Team.

Identify and alert the Compliance Team and/or project leads of any barriers and risks to Compliance activities and projects, when applicable.

Participate in assigned meetings, events, and trainings, as required.

Perform other duties, as assigned.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor s Degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Minimum of five (5) years healthcare experience for a large integrated health care delivery system; experience in a Compliance Department preferred
  • Detailed oriented individual with excellent computer skills (proficient knowledge of Excel and access for data analytics, Adobe Acrobat, Power Point)
  • Knowledge of Epic electronic health record system preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, activities, and complex projects with strict and competing deadlines, concurrently and effectively on a risk-priority basis
  • This role requires a positive, solution-focused attitude, the ability to respond promptly to requests, and the capability to take on additional responsibilities as needed
  • The Compliance Specialist will report primarily to the office RWJBH locations, including the offices located in West Orange and Oceanport (System Business Office), as necessary
