Material Coordinator Assistant
MalaceHR is seeking a Material Coordinator Assistant to support operations within a corporate/laboratory environment. This role is responsible for material handling, chemical distribution, inventory management, and supporting day-to-day facility logistics.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment involving chemical handling, inventory systems, and equipment operation.
Key Responsibilities
Material Handling & Logistics
- Receive, unpack, and process specialty chemicals and gas cylinders
- Enter materials into the customerâs inventory management system
- Deliver chemicals and cylinders to laboratory locations across the site
- Label all chemicals in accordance with safety and compliance standards
Chemical & Drum Management
- Transport chemical and material drums to designated lab areas
- Assist with inventory control to ensure compliance with storage regulations
- Support chemical lifecycle management within the facility
Cryogenics & Lab Support
- Fill and distribute liquid nitrogen (LN2) dewars across the site (~80 units)
- Pick up empty tanks and deliver full tanks to lab locations
- Distribute dry ice from receiving to designated lab areas
Stockroom Operations
- Staff stockroom counter and fulfill internal material requests
- Stock shelves and maintain inventory accuracy
- Receive lab, mechanical, and chemical supplies
- Track inventory using the customerâs database system
Equipment Operation
- Safely operate forklifts and powered industrial trucks
- Move materials including drums, cylinders, and dewars throughout the facility
Additional Duties
- Support routine maintenance inspection tasks as needed
- Assist with additional logistics and facility support functions as assigned
Hazardous Materials Responsibilities
- Handle and transport hazardous materials and waste after completing required training
- Utilize proper PPE, respirators, and safety equipment when required
- Participate in annual hazardous materials and safety training (RCRA, DOT, IATA as applicable)
- Follow all regulatory and site-specific compliance standards
Safety & Professional Expectations
- Actively participate in and support all safety programs
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately
- Follow all PPE and safety procedures at all times
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong attention to detail
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure timely follow-up on requests
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- Valid driverâs license
- Ability to obtain forklift / powered industrial truck certification
- Ability to learn and use inventory management systems
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multitask and work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- 3â5 years of experience in material handling, logistics, or industrial environments
- Experience working in laboratory, chemical, or regulated environments
- Familiarity with inventory systems and CMMS platforms
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to work in various environments including mechanical spaces and storage areas
- Capable of operating equipment and performing physically demanding tasks
Work Environment
- Exposure to industrial and laboratory environments
- Potential exposure to chemicals, moving equipment, and varying temperatures
- Work may involve moderate to loud noise levels and outdoor conditions
