As an Oncology Infusion RN at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, you'll combine clinical expertise with empathy to deliver life-saving therapies in a collaborative outpatient setting. As an Infusion Center Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:
- Providing comprehensive nursing assessments and developing individualized plans of care for patients receiving infusion and oncology treatments
- Safely administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, IV medications, and supportive therapies in accordance with evidence-based standards and organizational policies
- Initiating, accessing, maintaining, and monitoring central venous access devices, implanted ports, and peripheral IV lines while recognizing and responding to potential complications
- Monitoring patients closely throughout treatment, recognizing hematologic and oncologic emergencies, infusion reactions, and medication extravasation, and intervening promptly when needed
- Educating patients and their families about chemotherapy, symptom management, treatment expectations, medications, and discharge planning to promote confidence and continuity of care
- Collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, social workers, nutritionists, and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate comprehensive oncology care
- Supporting patients and their loved ones through compassionate communication, addressing psychosocial concerns, and facilitating referrals to supportive services when appropriate
- Maintaining accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical record while ensuring compliance with medication reconciliation, blood administration, infection prevention, and patient safety standards
- Assisting with charge nurse responsibilities as delegated, including coordinating workflow, supporting staffing needs, and helping prioritize patient care based on acuity
- Pursuing ongoing professional development through oncology-focused continuing education and specialty certifications while contributing to a culture of clinical excellence

To be considered for this Infusion Center RN opportunity, you must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred or candidates should be actively pursuing their degree. Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required (or must be obtained within 90 days of hire), along with IV certification (or completion within 90 days of hire). Registered Nurses administering chemotherapy are required to obtain and maintain Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider certification and complete annual oncology-specific continuing education in accordance with Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation standards.
