Bioassay Technician

Job Title: Bioassay TechnicianJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Bioassay Technician to support laboratory operations related to bioassay and heparin testing. The role involves performing various assays, assisting with animal procedures, and ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Responsibilities + Receive animals and conduct health assessments. + Identify and label animal housing, randomize animals into testing positions, and assist with transferring animals into clean cages. + Verify and record animal weights upon delivery. + Perform daily injections, dissections, and weighing of the glands of test animals as part of bioassay testing. + Prepare reagents and dilutions required for anti-Factor IIa and anti-Factor Xa experiments. + Perform anti-Factor IIa and anti-Factor Xa experiments achieving R2 ≤ 0.995 for reference standard and test solution slopes. + Maintain precise records of dilutions and testing in dedicated bound ledgers and equipment calibrations on dedicated controlled forms. + Perform preventative maintenance as assigned. + Inventory samples for return to customers. + Assist Team Lead Bioassay or Team Lead Vivarium with tasks and projects. + Document Out of Specifications test results. + Contribute to various lab-related tasks. + Ensure compliance with SOPs and GMP requirements. + Attend relevant training sessions to stay updated with industry standards. + Back up for any Vivarium tasks. Essential Skills + Minimum one year of experience related to the specified duties, including college-level practicum. + Excellent organizational and documentation skills. + Strong verbal and written communication skills. + Detail-oriented with knowledge of animal husbandry requirements, methods, and techniques. + Proficient in basic Microsoft applications. + Knowledge of laboratory facilities and/or equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent required. + Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement is a plus. + General experience with animals in a work or research environment. + Testing experience in toxicity, heparin, bioassays on hormones, dilutions, dissection, and calibration. Work Environment The work environment requires the ability to stand for most of the workday and bend, lift, and carry a minimum of 25 lbs. The role requires comfort working with laboratory animals, good manual dexterity, and good vision (20/20 with or without lenses). The facility is clean and well-maintained, offering a nice and supportive environment. Employees tend to have long tenures and stay long term. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Parsippany, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
