We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Phlebotomist to join a respected healthcare facility. Responsibilities:
Draw blood samples from patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations, demonstrating expert venipuncture and capillary collection techniques.
Prepare specimens for lab testing while adhering to established procedures and safety protocols.
Verify patient demographic information accurately, including obtaining signatures and label verification post-venipuncture to ensure specimen integrity.
Maintain meticulous records and documentation of all specimen collections and patient interactions to ensure compliance with confidentiality standards.
Educate and reassure patients about the blood draw process, fostering an environment of trust and confidence.
Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, professional environment in all patient interactions.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure staffing needs are met, including coverage for multiple locations, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
Exercise good judgment and decision-making within established protocols, maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency in all tasks.
Promote a positive image of the organization through superior customer service and professional communication.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Proficient in venipuncture, skin puncture, and handling of laboratory specimens.
Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality, and safety procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of calming anxious patients and explaining procedures clearly.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in high-volume settings.
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if travel between locations is required.
Basic keyboard and data entry skills for accurate documentation.
Nice to Have Skills:
Medical Assistant or Paramedic training.
Phlebotomy certification (preferred and required in some states).
Experience working in a patient service center environment.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least three years of professional phlebotomy experience, with diverse patient populations.
Experience in customer service or retail environments is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Flexibility to work varying hours, including weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime, to meet facility needs.
Ability to travel between multiple locations with minimal notice.
Certification in phlebotomy preferred or required in specific states (CA, NV, WA).
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, handle specimens, and perform venipuncture safely.
