Associate/Director, Strategic Planning & Effectiveness, Global Medical Affairs Strategy
Target Pay Rate: 70-84.51/hr **salary will be commensurate with experience
Job Description:The Global Medical Affairs (GMA) organization requires a motivated and skilled individual to support the Global Medical Affairs Strategy Team.
The Associate Director will be responsible for supporting Medical Affairs in the development, implementation, and completion of strategic and tactical projects associated with client's solid tumor programs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working cross functionally with members of client and Collaboration partners to ensure the delivery of Medical Affairs Plans, tactics and resources (within timelines and budget).
The candidate must have a broad knowledge of project management principles and experience providing project management support in Medical Affairs.
They must have a strategic mindset, be able to influence key stakeholders throughout the product’s life cycle and communicate to senior leaders in the organization.
The right candidate for the job will drive the long-term success of the product(s) they support, impact patient care patients and ultimately the success of client. Responsibilities:
Partner with the Medical Affairs Strategy Leads on Medical Affairs Team meeting priorities and deliverables
Lead Joint and client-only Integrated Medical Affairs Team (IMAT) meetings
(includes identifying key issues, set meeting agendas, schedule, ensure team is prepared with their deliverables, pre-meeting preparations, minutes, etc.)
Command the IMAT team and hold members accountable for deliverables, risk mitigation of tactics and communication of delays/accelerations
Partner with Global Commercialization Team PMs to plan meetings and joint deliverables across functions
Drive GMA Launch readiness and post-launch planning activities; Advisory board planning and execution of logistics
Deliver annual strategic and tactical medical planning with resource requirements, timelines and deliverables
Regularly partner and communicate with collaboration partner program management counterpart/stakeholders as needed
to move forward objectives, deliverables and plans; work with Alliance management on any collaboration issues regarding partnered assets
Champion best practices in Program Management, including the use of agendas, minutes, dashboards, budget oversight, maintain document repository,
establish and implement templates, tools, and processes to drive efficiency, alignment, communication, and effective planning
Work collaboratively with other project/program managers; provide guidance on overall program needs and resource gaps to facilitate resolution
Direct day-to-day program/portfolio activities to meet milestones; monitoring critical path activities to ensure delivery of program objectives
Partner with Head of Global ST MA Strategy Team to ensure overall oversight of Medical objectives and strategies across all regions (Global, US, EU and Japan) and meet the needs of the Global ST MA Strategy Team
Communicate program information/status to Head of Medical Affairs Strategy and partner to set annual Goals for the team and ensure tracking/delivery of these throughout the year
Build and deliver/co-present Quarterly dashboard of Team tactics and accomplishments; Ensure timely updates to MA Leadership Team
Plan and coordinate Global ST Team meetings and workshops and deliver applicable outputs
Build program and portfolio level annual budget and LRPs, and provide monthly update on financial status of programs
Develop and execute integrated cross-functional project plans with established goals, milestones, timelines and budget to enable program planning, tracking, analysis and visualization
Coordinate with Business partners such as MA Contract, Finance, Compliance and Legal, etc on Medical Affairs team initiatives and deliverables; sometimes taking the lead
Anticipate Governance needs and facilitate team and cross-functional deliverables to this end
Monitor and guide development, implementation, control, and reporting of delivery plans in line with overall CoE strategy
(e.g. training strategy/plans; grant strategies and budgets; project plans; operational plans; vendor engagement/management strategies)
Address complex issues related to own areas of expertise across deliverables within/across teams
Provide support and counsel to medical affairs leadership around own area
(e.g. medical education design; project staffing; training and regulatory compliance)
Initiate collaboration with external partners and industry peers as an expert within own area
Constantly drive innovation through adoption of new approaches/processes and optimization of current processes within CoE Train and mentor teams on emerging methodologies within CoE Requirements:
BS degree required. - Advanced degree and/or MBA preferred
Foundation of Drug development knowledge with understanding of functions relevant to the position including R&D, Commercial and Regulatory and Compliance.
Project management experience in biopharmaceutical industry 5-8 years preferred; experience in Medical Affairs required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to work with all levels within an organization and communicate effectively across functions and different levels of leadership
Proven track record working in operations management in a matrix structure.
Highly driven, organized, and flexible with the ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and to work collaboratively in teams in a fast-paced, matrix environment
Experience with managing large budgets and working with financial tools such as SAP
Expert in project management planning tools and working knowledge of MS office
(Word, Power Point, Excel), SmartSheets, TEAMs and OutlookGuide and review development of CoE plans
