Under the direction of the Vice President of Construction Accounting, the Accounts Payable Clerk will perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Filing of all construction/development back-up on a timely basis using the ShareFile paperless system.
  • Verifying AIA payment packages, invoices, credit card payments, check requests and employee expense reports for correct math, current insurance certificates, Hold Harmless Agreements, signed purchase orders, final releases and required approvals within 2-3 days of receipt.
  • Cutting, processing, and distributing checks.
  • Reviewing a construction variance report monthly.
  • Maintaining the Accounts Payable cash spreadsheet for the weekly check run.
  • Coordinating online bill payment system. Set-up new accounts. Enter information and pay individual accounts.
  • Researching Accounts Payable inquiries from vendors and RPM employees.
  • Assisting the Construction Bookkeeper with preparing 1099-NEC Forms.
  • Preparing development soft cost packages.
  • Providing external accountants with supporting documentation as requested
  • Faxing/e-mailing Accounts Payable reminders to delinquent vendors
  • Taking deposits to the bank and obtaining certified checks upon request.
  • Working beyond the narrow and specific job responsibilities to advance the goals of the company.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Business
  • 2-3 years Accounts Payable experience, construction industry experience a plus
  • Understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets and accounting software.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Some bending down and/or stretching to reach vendor files in drawers.
