Matrix is seeking a NJ/NY Engineering Development Lead to drive business development and project execution in central and northern New Jersey and New York. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial role for a seasoned civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering professional who thrives on building client relationships, leading technical delivery, and cultivating teams. • Market Leadership & Business Development
• Lead strategic growth in NJ and NY by identifying opportunities and cultivating relationships with public agencies, municipalities, developers, and consultants
• Drive proposal development and pursuit strategy for infrastructure, land development, and municipal projects
• Represent Matrix at industry events and client meetings across NJ and NY metro
• Champion a client-first mindset, ensuring long-term partnerships and repeat business

• Project Leadership & Technical Delivery
• Serve as Project Manager for civil engineering projects you help bring in
• Oversee design, permitting, and construction phases with a focus on quality and client satisfaction
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Matrix’s service lines
• Technical Excellence & Mentorship
• Act as a technical leader in civil/site engineering, stormwater, grading, and utility design
• Guide junior staff and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s a plus)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 10+ years of experience in civil/site engineering and project management
• Proven track record as a seller-doer with strong client relationships in NJ and/or NY (NYC agency experience and relationships a plus, as well as regional and national client base)
• Deep understanding of state, municipal, and county regulations
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
