Summary:

We are representing a commercial HVAC contractor hiring a full-time Service Technician to handle installation, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems across New Jersey. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and is comfortable managing multiple daily service calls independently. This is not an entry-level role—applicants must have solid commercial HVAC experience (not residential-only) and EPA certification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform service, repair, and maintenance on HVAC/R systems across multiple job sites per day

• Diagnose issues and conduct performance tests using multimeters, gauges, and specialty tools

• Install and repair equipment including split systems, package units, ductless systems, VAVs, PTACs, chillers, and heat pumps

• Handle refrigerant recovery and charging per EPA guidelines

• Conduct preventative maintenance visits and promote ongoing service contracts to clients

• Maintain a clean, organized work area at all times and follow site safety protocols

• Document all work and communicate findings clearly with customers and office staff

• Participate in emergency on-call service rotation (1x/month with additional pay and overtime)

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of commercial HVAC service experience (residential-only background not accepted)

• EPA certification required (Universal or Type I & II)

• Trade school or technical HVAC program preferred

• Skilled in electrical testing, refrigerant diagnostics, control troubleshooting (Distech a plus)

• Ability to read electrical schematics and service manuals

• Familiarity with commercial units, chillers, compressors, piping, motors, and controls

• Must hold a valid NJ driver’s license and have clean driving record

• Willing to work overtime during peak seasons and participate in monthly on-call rotation

• Punctual, professional, customer-focused, and self-motivated
