Certified Nursing Assistant
- Receive assignments from Charge Nurse and Charge Nurses' Aide and begin assignment working as team. Staff member should be capable of handling the physically demanding job of working with paralyzed residents.
- Prioritize assignment according to resident medical, work and school needs. Visit your residents at start of shift.
- Assist residents with all ADL's including bathing, dressing including application of splints, and other adaptive devices, feeding, toileting and positioning.
- Bathe or shower resident according to posted schedule. Assist with tooth brushing and oral hygiene and shampoo and shave, clip fingernails.
- Report any notable or serious changes to Charge Nurse or Clinical Coordinator immediately.
- Assist with set up in main dining room for meals and feed those residents unable to eat independently.
- Application and removal of external male catheters.
- Empty urinal drainage bags each shift and record intake and output. Use proper infection control technique for cleaning and disposal of leg and/or free drainage bags and catheters. Always wash hands between doing each resident and after removal of gloves.
- Assist and/or dress residents including coordination clothing, accessories and makeup. Shave male residents.
- As per Cheshire Mission, encourage residents to maintain their independence in all AOL's and maintain confidentiality with regard to all aspects of resident life.
- Attend inservices and staff meetings (12 hours per year).
- Assume responsibility for professional ethical behavior.

- c. Respect residents' privacy
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Assist residents to maintain their rooms so that articles are easily accessible and room is tidy.
- Assist with laundry including folding, sorting and putting clothes away when time permits.
- Escort residents in community to medical appointments and social activities when asked by Nursing or Recreation Department. xrczosw
- Put up medical supplies as directed by Nurse or Charge Nurses' Aide.
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Current New Jersey State Certification required
- Experience in working with disabled and/or experience in long term care facility desirable
- Ability to work with and relate to people
- Can perform Essential Functions with or without reasonable accommodations
