Position Overview

The Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and heavy-duty trucks.

This role includes both shop work and field service , supporting active job sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software
• Perform preventative maintenance (oil changes, fluid checks, filters, lubrication, inspections)
• Complete major repairs on engines, transmissions, drivetrains, air brake systems, and hydraulic components
• Service and repair heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and haul vehicles
• Respond to field service calls and perform on-site repairs as needed
• Maintain accurate service records, logs, and documentation
• Ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards

What We’re Looking For

• 3–5+ years of experience working on diesel engines and heavy equipment
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Experience with hydraulic systems and heavy machinery repair
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to travel to job sites for field repairs
• Trade school certification or Diesel Technology degree preferred (not required)
• Must have own basic hand tools

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50–100 lbs
• Comfortable standing for extended periods
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions (bending, kneeling, crawling)
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
