Developer Relations Engineer Qualcomm Terrestrial Positioning Service (TPS)

TPS leverages Wi-Fi, cellular, and terrestrial beacons (like Bluetooth\u00ae Low Energy) to provide precise geolocation and wayfinding capabilities for asset trackers, handheld devices, payment terminals, and more. Its hybrid approach ensures robust positioning, whether alongside or independent of GPS, and is optimized for power efficiency and lightweight integration.\n\nAs part of Edge Impulse and Qualcomm\u2019s Industrial IoT division, we are launching a Developer Relations initiative dedicated to TPS. This role is technical, ideal for someone from a software engineering background with strong communication skills\u2014someone who can create sample apps, cloud integrations, and hands-on technical content to enable developers to succeed with TPS. You will not just document, but actively build and demonstrate how to use TPS across different platforms (Android, Linux, and embedded/RTOS, etc\u2026).\n\nYour mission is to empower developers by providing practical, code-level resources\u2014sample applications, integration guides, and technical deep dives\u2014that make it easy for them to adopt and innovate with TPS.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience. \nOR \nMaster\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience. \nOR \nPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. \n \n\u2022 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc. \n\u2022 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with debugging techniques.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Technical Expertise:\n\n * Strong software engineering background, with hands-on experience writing code for Android, Linux, and embedded/RTOS platforms.\n\n * Experience creating sample apps, SDK demos, and cloud integrations\u2014not just documenting, but building and demonstrating technical solutions.\n\n * Experience with Wi-Fi, cellular, and BLE-based positioning technologies, and experience with Qualcomm platforms.\n\n\n\n\n * Developer Relations \u0026 Communication:\n\n * Proven ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and compellingly to both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\n * Experience in Developer Relations, Pre-Sales Engineering, or Technical Product Marketing, with a focus on enabling developers through practical, code-level resources.\n\n * Excellent technical writing skills, with experience creating tutorials, blog posts, and documentation that resonate with developers.\n\n * Experience with video creation is appreciated.\n\n\n\n\n * Collaboration \u0026 Advocacy:\n\n * Ability to advocate for developers internally, ensuring their feedback drives product improvements.\n\n * Fluency in a second language is highly valued.\n\n\n\n\nPrimary Responsibilities\n\n * Technical Content \u0026 Sample Development:\n\n * Create sample apps and cloud integrations using the TPS SDK and API, demonstrating real-world use cases for asset tracking, logistics, retail, and payments.\n\n * Develop hands-on tutorials, integration guides, and technical blog posts that walk developers through using TPS on Android, Linux, and embedded/RTOS platforms.\n\n * Audit existing documentation to identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for improvement, ensuring all resources are up-to-date and developer-friendly.\n\n * Repackage and enhance existing documentation to ensure it is easily discoverable and tailored to different developer personas.\n\n\n\n\n * Developer Enablement \u0026 Support:\n\n * Engage directly with developers\u2014through forums, Q\u0026A sessions, and deep-dive technical discussions\u2014to understand their challenges and provide actionable solutions.\n\n * Occasionally jump on calls with customer engineers to discuss app architecture, troubleshoot integration issues, and provide best practices for using TPS.\n\n * Collaborate with the support team to identify common pain points and create resources that address them proactively.\n\n\n\n\n * Community \u0026 Advocacy:\n\n * Support developer forums, hackathons, and community events to foster adoption and gather feedback.\n\n * Advocate internally for developers, ensuring their needs and feedback shape the future of TPS.\n\n\n\n\n## Why Join Us?\n\nThis role is perfect for a technical developer who wants to bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and developer success.
