The Underwriter is responsible for analyzing new business and renewal applications to verify the risk is acceptable and properly rate the policy while working within the department’s established guidelines. We are looking for a highly effective individual to work with the underwriting staff with a desire to grow and develop leadership skills

Essential Job Functions:

• Analyze all information gathered on new business and/or renewal applications to determine eligibility

• Perform database searches to review driving records

• Identify policy items that may need to be addressed or escalated

• Ensure accuracy and completeness of information

• Communicate with applicants/subscribers to obtain correct documentation or missing information

• Review requested documents and additional information for acceptability

• Enter data into company systems and process according to company and state guidelines

• Process changes and issue new and renewal policies

• Manage all work assignments in a timely and efficient manner

• Communicate and collaborate with team members to share information, document processes, resolve issues, and provide support for learning

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, BS/BA preferred

• At least 1 year of directly related experience required or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

• Property & Casualty Insurance License is required for this position but not necessary to apply

• Management/Team Lead experience is a plus but not required to apply

• Strong analytical skills

• Detail oriented; ability to produce work with high level of accuracy

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Excellent listening skills, ability to multi-task, organized

• Computer skills including knowledge of navigating a computer, data entry, Microsoft Office and Google Suite

• Willingness to collaborate with other departments

Physical Actions/Environment: Required job duties consist of prompt and regular attendance, ability to frequently move about the office to coordinate work with others; standing, sitting and typing for extended periods; and lifting and/or carrying up to 5 lbs. Ability to frequently communicate with others in-person, on the phone/virtually, and in writing. Ability to read, understand, process and evaluate large amounts of technical information and make related, informed decisions.

Starting Salary: $54,080 - $70,720, commensurate with experience

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5 PM

Location: Princeton, NJ
