Diesel Mechanic

The Class B Diesel Mechanic plays a vital role in maintaining the reliability and safety of the company’s fleet and heavy equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient operations that directly support Mazza Recycling’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel vehicles and heavy equipment to maintain optimal performance and safety standards
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and address any identified issues promptly
- Utilize vehicle computer electronics to interpret failure codes and carry out necessary repairs
- Estimate time and material costs for repairs and request new parts as needed
- Communicate equipment status and repair progress to the Maintenance & Equipment team and other departments
- Assist and provide guidance to other Maintenance & Equipment personnel as required
- Respond to emergency service calls for equipment deficiencies
- Conduct daily inspections and safety checks on vehicles and equipment
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
- Follow all established safety procedures and company policies
- Support the Maintenance & Equipment Manager and team as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or in a similar role
- Strong technical and computer skills, including experience with maintenance software programs
- Proficient in operating tools and equipment required for repairs
- Ability to diagnose and repair various types of heavy machinery
- Ability to lift and move over 25 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid driver license
