Diesel Mechanic

The Class B Diesel Mechanic plays a vital role in maintaining the reliability and safety of the company’s fleet and heavy equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient operations that directly support Mazza Recycling’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel vehicles and heavy equipment to maintain optimal performance and safety standards
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and address any identified issues promptly
• Utilize vehicle computer electronics to interpret failure codes and carry out necessary repairs
• Estimate time and material costs for repairs and request new parts as needed
• Communicate equipment status and repair progress to the Maintenance & Equipment team and other departments
• Assist and provide guidance to other Maintenance & Equipment personnel as required
• Respond to emergency service calls for equipment deficiencies
• Conduct daily inspections and safety checks on vehicles and equipment
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
• Follow all established safety procedures and company policies
• Support the Maintenance & Equipment Manager and team as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or in a similar role
• Strong technical and computer skills, including experience with maintenance software programs
• Proficient in operating tools and equipment required for repairs
• Ability to diagnose and repair various types of heavy machinery
• Ability to lift and move over 25 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver license
