As our HVAC/R Technical Learning & Development Leader, you’ll be the person everyone turns to when it’s time to learn, practice, and master the trade. Your classroom will span from a fully equipped training lab to active jobsites, and your impact will be measured in safer practices, sharper diagnostics, and confident technicians who grow their careers here.

A day in the life

  • Morning: Prep the lab, finalize lesson plans, and set up competency stations for refrigeration cycles, airflow measurement, and electrical diagnostics. Align your training schedule with pull-through work, schematics/electrical sessions, and commercial installation practices.
  • Midday: Lead hands-on training for service technicians, installers, and apprentices on residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC/R systems. Reinforce OSHA safety, EPA refrigerant regulations, and NJ-specific codes.
  • Afternoon: Ride along or host department-specific sessions on-site, addressing real-world troubleshooting, controls, combustion analysis, maintenance, and installation techniques.
  • Wrap-up: Assess skill levels, log training hours, update manuals and materials, and collaborate with operations and safety leaders to close performance gaps.

Your core responsibilities

  • Design, deliver, and continuously refine technical training across service and project teams.
  • Teach best practices in refrigeration cycles, electrical diagnostics, airflow, controls, combustion, troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation.
  • Conduct hands-on classroom and field instruction covering residential, commercial, and industrial systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant rules, and NJ-specific codes.
  • Support technician onboarding and continuing education; build trusted relationships as the go-to trainer for safety and career development.
  • Evaluate skills, recommend individualized development plans, and maintain up-to-date training materials, manuals, and assessments.
  • Prepare lab areas, craft lesson plans, and schedule classes on pull-through work, schematics/electrical, and commercial installation practices.
  • Stay current on industry technologies, tools, codes, and manufacturer updates.

  • Deepen expertise in commercial systems including WSHP, RTUs, and ice machines, along with associated maintenance.
  • Lead assessments and create career plans for every technician.
  • Expand our training lab and develop new modules and competency labs for service and project teams.

  • Track quarterly completion goals for training initiatives.
  • Enroll technicians in career-building coursework.
  • Log all training hours conducted.
  • Increase technician engagement through meaningful training connections.
  • Grow and improve training facilities.
  • Participate in a quarterly bonus plan tied to personal growth and training outcomes.
