RMA is seeking an Insurance A/R Claims Trainer for our Basking Ridge, NJ location.

The Insurance A/R Claims Trainer is responsible for overseeing and managing the training of all new and existing claims team employees. This role will encompass the development of a robust training program, which will help new employees to understand and be successful in their roles and responsibilities. Additionally, the continual training of existing employees to communicate changes and to mentor those in need of additional training. This is a leadership position that involves moderate oversight of staff, with no direct reports. This position will function independently with minimal instruction and direction, while leveraging technology.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities

  • Design and develop training materials, manuals, and resources tailored to the central billing office’s needs while leveraging technology to facilitate the learning process.
  • Facilitate engaging and informative training sessions for new hires and existing staff on billing software/portals, codes, payment applications, EOBs, rejections, denials, quality assurance reports, and other functions.
  • Utilize data to evaluate knowledge gaps and the training needs of the staff.
  • Provide ongoing education and refreshers on billing changes, payor policies, coding updates and other factors that impact claim payments.
  • Ensure that billing denials and trends are communicated.
  • Monitor staff performance post-training to assess knowledge retention and application of skills in real-world scenarios.
  • Gather feedback from trainees to continuously improve training materials and methods based on staff needs and industry changes.
  • Work closely with leadership to align training initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records of all training sessions, participant progress and training outcomes.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends, developments, payor policies and best practices in billing.
  • May need to perform some insurance A/R claims functions on a needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the team consistently meets performance goals through effective coaching and counseling, as well as by planning, monitoring, and evaluating job outcomes.

Academic Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred. A relevant associate’s degree or high school diploma with appropriate experience will be considered.

Position Requirements/Experience:

  • 2 years billing experience.
  • Working knowledge of all insurance types and guidelines, including the ability to read and interpret EOB's, navigate insurance portals and other software.
  • Working knowledge of billing and coding for facility and professional claims.
  • Travel up to 25% to facilities as needed.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer (keyboard skills 40-60 wpm).
  • Medical software program experience required.
  • Microsoft Office suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
  • Knowledge of office procedures and office machines (i.e., computer, fax, copier, etc.).
  • Strong presentation and communication skills through a multitude of mediums.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects.
  • Strong analytical skill set.
