The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Jersey City Medical Center is looking for a Supervisor in the Emergency Screening department. The Supervisor is responsible for supervising staff members in the performance of their duties and assisting the Director and Assistant Director in the administration of a 24 hour operation.

Qualifications:

  • MA/MS degree in psych or behavioral health related field, plus three years of prior experience in a psychiatric setting, one of which is in crisis setting,
  • Must possess the ability to work in stressful situations,
  • Must possess and maintain a valid NJ State Driver s License,
  • It is required that individuals hired be eligible to obtain their Temporary Screening Certification Number upon hire and must obtain their permanent number with one -1-year,

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Night Shift
  • Full-Time work schedule

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the clinical and administrative management of the screening service,
  • Supervises staff and provides direct patient care services when indicated,
  • Responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to personnel and for consistently setting and evaluating priorities,
  • Responsible for employee engagement, management, and supervisory tasks,
  • At times, will function as a Mental Health Screener, providing care in the acute care setting within the scope of practice defined by the Screening Law and other regulatory standards,
  • Assures safety in practice by maintaining a realization of their own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge by communicating with and utilizing resource persons/programs available,
  • Will individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs,
  • Works in harmony with other staff members of interdisciplinary team, assisting the Patient Care Manager and others as needed, to achieve best service possible to patients,
  • Responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate support personnel and for consistently setting and evaluating priorities,
  • As a key member of a High Reliability Organization, remain responsible for reporting identified clinical and non-clinical safety issues and stopping the line as necessary to ensure the safety of the patients, staff, and visitors,
