Shipping Clerk I PM Shift

The position is responsible to ensure packages are shipped on time and in accordance with sales order instructions so customers will receive products in the same condition that products were sent. Works under general supervision.

Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for picking and packing all orders in a timely and efficient manner according to the printed sales order while utilizing hand-held scanning device.
• Knowledge of all distributor shipping requirements.
• Verifies and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
• Assists in loading trucks, van or helping courier services in locating packages to ensure their correct destination.
• Assist inventory/receiving teams as the business requires.

In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for:

• Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
• Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

Physical Activities:

Work may be very active, could stand for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. Typical activities can include but not limited to walking, twisting and turning, bending, reaching, reaching above the shoulders and stooping. Exerts and/or lifts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally.

Requirements

Experience:

· Minimum 1 year of warehouse experience with previous warehouse and/or inventory control experience is a plus

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

• Familiarity with a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel.

• Strong attention to detail

• Strong ability to work well in a group atmosphere and comply with high quality standards.

• Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing priorities
