Job Overview:

The Social Worker will support the KidsFit obesity treatment program at both the NBIMC Pediatric Health Center and the Pediatric Specialty Center at Cooperman Barnabas - West Orange. This person will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychosocial support for pediatric patients and their families with a particular focus on patients at risk for pediatric obesity. This role involves assessing family needs, offering targeted counseling, resource navigation, and coordinating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to address the social and psychosocial factors of obesity and the associated comorbidities.

Qualifications:

• Required: Bachelor's degree in social work

• Preferred: preference for a Master's degree in social work (MSW) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a pediatric or family social work setting.
• Must Be fluent in Spanish or Creol

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable):

• Current licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LSCW)

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):

• Monday through Friday, some evenings.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of pediatric patients and their families to identify emotional, social, and environmental factors related to pediatric obesity and the associated comorbidities.
• Provide individual and family counseling to address issues such as self-esteem, stress management, and behavior.
• Assist families in accessing community resources such as mental health services, financial aid, and educational programs to overcome barriers to treatment and ensure optimal health outcomes.
• EMR documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with clinical regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to integrate social work into the pediatric care plan.
• Participate in the clinical and group sessions of the KidsFit pediatric obesity treatment program.
