What are we looking for?

The Laboratory Technician - Petroleum is responsible for testing various petroleum and petrochemical, crude and refined products, to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Key duties include prepping, and testing samples, operating/calibrating equipment, documenting results in LIMS, troubleshooting issues, maintaining strict safety protocols in the lab, and the occasional transport of lab materials.

Shift/Schedule: 40 hours per week, overtime as needed, including weekends, and public holidays, as needed.

The below can be a selected shift that the successful candidate chooses to work:

• 5 days/week
• 9pm to 5am
• 10pm to 6am
• 11pm to 7am
• 4 days per week
• 9pm to 7am
• 10 pm to 8am
• 11pm to 9am

• Monday through Friday 8hrs/day
• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10hrs/day

What you'll do:

• Perform numerous chemical and physical tests based on American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods or accepted industry standards in multiple test areas
• Perform equipment calibration, maintenance and basic troubleshooting
• Maintain quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories
• Record data on appropriate data sheets and report data to LIMS system
• Participate in cross training as well as Interlaboratory Study Samples
• Clean glassware and test equipment
• Prepare reagents as needed
• Comply with safety, quality and housekeeping requirements
• Occasional transport of Lab Materials, to offsite locations

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• High School Degree
• Ability to multi-task in high production testing areas
• Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
• Must possess good math and observation skills
• Must demonstrate excellent team communication, coordination and cooperation
• Must demonstrate ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures
• Must demonstrate ability to utilize non-complex and complex instrumentation
• Must be able to work overtime as business needs dictate
• Ability to regularly lift/carry up to 15 pounds
• Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• Degree in Science Field
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Proficiency using LIMS applications
• Strong computer aptitude
• Previous/Current experience working in the Petroleum Testing Laboratory space is highly desired
