Accounts Payable Specialist

Location: Wall, NJ (Hybrid)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join a growing finance team in Wall, NJ. This hybrid opportunity is ideal for an experienced AP professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, improving processes, and taking ownership of the full accounts payable cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare and process payments via check, ACH, and other electronic payment methods.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and vendor inquiries.
• Maintain vendor records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Complete account reconciliations, including bank and clearing/suspense accounts.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to accounts payable activities.
• Manage 1099 reporting and W-9 documentation requirements.
• Analyze accounts payable and expense data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost savings.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives, workflow enhancements, and AP automation efforts.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and process documentation.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure timely resolution of issues.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
• 4 years of Accounts Payable experience, preferably within a financial services, banking, or corporate environment.
• Experience with AP automation platforms such as Concur or similar expense and invoice management systems.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, reconciliations, and general accounting principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience preparing journal entries and supporting month-end close activities.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with vendors, management, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
