Now Hiring: Head Chef

Location: Bennie’s Bread & Italian Market – Ocean City, NJ

Type: Full-Time | Year-Round

Are you a passionate, experienced culinary leader ready to take the helm of a beloved Italian kitchen at the Jersey Shore? Bennie’s Bread & Italian Market, a local favorite known for fresh-baked breads, authentic Italian fare, and a family-friendly vibe, is looking for a Head Chef to lead our back-of-house team.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking a hands-on leader who brings:

• Proven experience running a professional kitchen
• A great attitude and a passion for Italian cuisine
• Leadership by example – from prep to plating
• Strong skills in inventory management & ordering
• Experience in recipe development and menu planning
• Knowledge of food cost control and kitchen efficiency

️‍What You’ll Do:

• Oversee daily kitchen operations and BOH staff
• Maintain consistency and quality across all dishes
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment
• Train, mentor, and inspire kitchen staff
• Collaborate with ownership on menu updates and specials
• Monitor food costs and optimize prep to minimize waste

✅Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years experience in a head chef or kitchen manager role
• Deep knowledge of Italian cuisine (bonus points for bakery/pasta experience)
• ServSafe certification or ability to obtain
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Weekend and holiday availability
