The Calais School is a state-approved provider of special education serving students in grades K through 12 Plus with multiple learning disabilities. This is a Part-Time position , and the schedule and hours will be determined.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintaining school buildings and grounds in excellent condition.
• Help promote the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees throughout school buildings and grounds.
• Vendor management and communication.
• Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
• Move equipment and materials within and between school buildings as needed.
• Work overtime during emergencies to prevent disruption of school operations.
• Serve as a substitute custodian when necessary.
• Follow and uphold all district policies at all times.
• Stay informed about new information, innovative ideas, and maintenance techniques.
• Serve as the primary contact for emergency-related issues after 3:00 PM.
• Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Administrative Staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required
• Boiler licenses preferred
• Previous maintenance experience, preferably in a school setting

COMPETENCIES -- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

• Ability to perform a variety of basic maintenance tasks using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and follow repair and instruction manuals.
• Strong communication and customer service skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk up and down stairs during emergency drills or situations.
