Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager, the Line Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating meals in accordance with established recipes, food safety regulations, and quality standards.

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Line Cook to join our kitchen team. This role is responsible for executing daily meal service with consistency, speed, and attention to quality. The ideal candidate can work efficiently in a structured kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and teamwork.

This is a hands-on cooking role focused on station execution — not just prep or support work.

Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Execution
• Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and service standards
• Set up and stock assigned station before service
• Execute orders during service with speed, accuracy, and consistency
• Ensure proper portioning and food presentation
• Assist with prep work including chopping, portioning, and basic cooking tasks

Kitchen Operations
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation throughout the shift
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Properly store food and label items to prevent spoilage
• Monitor food temperatures and ensure safe handling practices
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries as needed

Teamwork and Service
• Communicate clearly with kitchen staff and client volunteers during service
• Work collaboratively to ensure smooth and timely meal service
• Support team members during high-volume periods
• Take direction from supervisors and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications
Education
• High School diploma or equivalent required

Experience
• Minimum 1 year of line cook or relevant kitchen experience preferred
• Experience in high-volume or institutional kitchens is a plus

Skills and Abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Strong attention to detail and consistency
• Basic knife skills and cooking techniques
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
• Willingness to learn and improve

Certifications
• ServSafe Food Handler Certification (required or willingness to obtain)

Other Requirements
• Valid driver’s license preferred (not required for primary role)

Work Environment
• Fast-paced kitchen serving multiple populations including shelter and program services
• Standing for extended periods and working near hot equipment
• Lifting up to 40lbs as needed

Pay Rate: $17.51/hr. + plus $1.00 per hour for every hour worked paid quarterly
Schedule: Full-time | Flexible Scheduling
