Position Overview

As an Automotive Detail and Lot Technician, you will maintain the cleanliness of company and customer vehicles while ensuring all dealership vehicles are presentable and ready for sale or service. You will use high-pressure wash equipment and power tools to wash, wax, and detail vehicles. Additionally, you will support both the Sales and Service Managers by following directions and reporting any vehicle concerns.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Wash and wax cars and trucks efficiently as requested by management.
• Perform all assigned tasks with accuracy, meeting dealership standards.
• Tag all vehicle keys correctly and ensure descriptions correspond with vehicles.
• Inspect vehicles for additional safety or service needs and report them to the appropriate manager.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, accounting for dealership-owned tools at all times.
• Supervise apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Follow federal, state, and local regulations regarding disposal of hazardous waste and other safety protocols.
• Ensure customer vehicles are only used for work-related purposes.

Work Environment

This position involves working both indoors and outdoors in all seasons. You will be exposed to dust, exhaust fumes, and various materials. Physical activities include lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and using hand and power tools. A dealership uniform must be worn at all times.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a detail technician is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand job-related instructions in electronic or paper form.
• Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Good judgment and reliability.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Working Conditions

• Generally a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime and rotating Saturday shifts.
• Working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Exposure to dust, exhaust fumes, and other materials.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds and performing tasks requiring stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
• Use of hand and power tools required.
• Uniform must be worn at all times.
