Job Title: Chief Operating Officer / Chief Financial Officer (COO/CFO)
Location: Manalapan, NJ
Pay: $180k-200k
Employment Type: Full-Time | Executive Level, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Position Summary:
As COO/CFO, you will serve as a key strategic partner to ownership, overseeing both the operational and financial health of the company. You will bring deep financial acumen, leadership in operations, and a strong understanding of working within a family business environment. This dual-role executive must be capable of wearing many hats—financial strategist, operations leader, technology advocate, and relationship manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership (CFO Duties):
- Oversee all financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and audits.
- Close out books monthly, quarterly, and annually in coordination with ownership and external CPA.
- Serve as the face of the company to financial institutions; maintain strong banking relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all financial, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee insurance procurement and risk management, including renewals and claims.
Operational Leadership (COO Duties):
- Drive operational excellence across departments, with a focus on efficiency and innovation.
- Lead cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives and process improvements.
- Act as a trusted liaison between ownership and departmental leadership.
- Develop and monitor key operational metrics and KPIs.
- Bring a problem-solving, “think outside the box” mindset to complex challenges.
Technology & Systems:
- Spearhead IT initiatives, including system improvements, automation, and digital transformation.
- Manage relationships with software vendors, IT consultants, and internal users.
- Ensure secure and efficient systems across all departments.
Talent & Strategic Recruitment:
- Identify, attract, and approach high-performing talent from within the related sectors.
- Build strong internal teams by upgrading talent across key areas of the business.
- Lead succession planning and organizational development in coordination with ownership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required). CPA or MBA a plus.
- Minimum 10 years of executive experience, preferably as a COO and/or CFO.
- Prior experience working with or managing a family-owned business is strongly preferred .
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, modeling, etc.) required.
- Experience managing insurance portfolios.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in both financial strategy and operational execution.
- High technical competency with modern IT systems and tools.
