Senior Instrumentation Technician

The Senior Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems. This role involves ensuring accurate measurement and control of variables such as temperature, pressure, flow, level, and other process parameters. The Senior Instrumentation Technician works closely with engineers, operators, and maintenance teams to ensure the smooth operation of equipment and systems.
As a Senior Instrumentation Technician at Integra LifeSciences, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing our instrumentation systems in a process environment. You will leverage your extensive knowledge and experience to ensure the reliability and accuracy of measuring and control devices, contributing to our mission of delivering top-tier solutions in our industry. Your expertise will also directly contribute to optimizing performance and ensuring safety standards across our facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties satisfactorily.
- Install, calibrate, and maintain various types of instrumentation, including sensors, transmitters, and control systems
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance to ensure system reliability and compliance with industry standards
- Diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation issues, utilizing your analytical skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation systems into existing processes
- Document all maintenance activities, including calibration records and system modifications
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability
- Perform calibrations and/or verifications of instruments and equipment to approved job plans, work instructions and/or procedures.
- Perform testing on electronic components to determine functionality level and capacity.
- Knowledge and application of instrument, equipment, and loop calibrations of various parameters used within the CMC’s manufacturing operations, laboratories, and facilities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Use manual and powered electrical repair and diagnostic tools/ instruments skillfully.
- Complete all cGMP documentation associated with calibration and maintenance tasks.
- Review calibration SOPs for accuracy during routine calibration or when a new instrument is introduced into the calibration database. Create or revise the SOPs as needed
- Willingness to perform other related tasks.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to start, stop and operate all equipment.
- Available to work flexible hours, be on call and work overtime, as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and control systems within a relevant industry (e.g., manufacturing, pharmaceutical, medical device, petrochemical, or utilities).
- Strong understanding of instrumentation principles, control loops, and system integration.
- Experience with calibration and troubleshooting of various sensors, transmitters, and control devices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of process controls and electrical circuitry.
- Strong computer skills.
- Working knowledge of paperless calibration management software
- Able to work from specifications, drawings, verbal instructions, or sketches.
PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
- Certification in instrumentation or control systems (e.g., ISA, NICET, SACA, CCT)
- Military Experience
- Familiarity with PLC programming and SCADA systems.
- Experience with safety management systems and compliance regulations.
- Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and analytical equipment (e.g., HPLC, GC, mass spectrometers, spectrophotometers).
