Lead Mitigation Technician

Fortify Companies
Denville, NJ

Job Description

Job Description

When a basement floods at 2 a.m. or a fire leaves a family unsure where to start, someone has to step in immediately — and lead the way. That someone is you.

LEAD MITIGATION TECHNICIAN (Crew Chief Level)
Insurcomm Restoration | Fortify Companies
Field-Based | Full-Time | Denville, NJ
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour

About Us

Insurcomm Restoration delivers complete restoration, reconstruction, and emergency response you can rely on when everything needs to go right. For more than 30 years, we have helped property owners, facility teams, and communities recover from fire, water, mold, storms, and environmental hazards.

As part of Fortify Companies, we are part of something bigger. Fortify’s roots are in restoration—helping families and businesses recover when disaster strikes. But we’re building something beyond recovery: a platform that aligns insurance carriers, property owners, and service providers across prevention, response, restoration, and rebuild.

We believe helping people rebuild after a loss is only half the job. Through our family of companies, we deliver coordinated care from prevention to restoration across 210+ markets nationwide, backed by Summit Partners. Our teams, technology, and local expertise come together so property owners and insurers get fewer losses, faster recoveries, and someone they can trust.

Our Brand Values

  • Safety first, always: We hold ourselves to the highest standard to protect our team, clients, and communities
  • Showing up with a service heart: We help people move forward with empathy, respect, and unwavering commitment
  • Bringing the energy: We show up with urgency and a get-it-done mindset, owning every outcome
  • Predictability in the unpredictable: With standardized systems, we deliver consistency every time
  • Driving success together: By supporting one another, we strengthen relationships and drive results

About the Job

As a Lead Mitigation Technician, you will take charge on emergency restoration projects for families and businesses affected by fire, water, mold, sewer, and storm damage. You are not only on the front lines of recovery—you lead the crew, set the standard for safety and professionalism, and ensure projects are executed efficiently and in accordance with company and IICRC standards.

When it matters most, we show up with heart—and we need leaders who do the same.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and supervise mitigation crews on residential and commercial job sites
  • Respond to emergency mitigation calls and assess property damage caused by fire, water, mold, and weather-related events
  • Perform and oversee water extraction, structural drying, and mitigation services in accordance with IICRC standards
  • Develop drying plans and monitor progress to ensure proper equipment placement and moisture goals are met
  • Remove and dispose of damaged building materials safely and efficiently
  • Decontaminate, clean, and deodorize affected interior spaces
  • Collaborate with the Contents Division to clean, pack, and store salvageable items
  • Document job progress through photos, moisture readings, and detailed notes using PSA and other required software
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, adjusters, and internal teams
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times
  • Ensure proper setup, operation, cleaning, and storage of tools and equipment
  • Train and mentor Mitigation Technicians to uphold quality and safety standards
  • Follow warehouse and vehicle protocols, including daily documentation of consumables and equipment use
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the team and business.

Ready to Join Us?

We are building the future of property protection, and we need strong leaders in the field to help us get there. If you take pride in hands-on work, know how to run a crew, care about helping people during difficult times, and are ready to be part of a team that shows up when it matters most, we would love to hear from you.
