Consigliere Wine Bar is a wine-driven space rooted in culture, sound, and discovery. Located in downtown Newark, we offer a thoughtfully curated selection of low-intervention, classic, and emerging wines from around the world, alongside a concise cocktail program designed to complement—not overshadow—our wine list.

Our bar is built on conversation, education, and experience. We introduce guests to new producers, regions, and styles while creating an environment that feels welcoming, unpretentious, and deeply rooted in community. Position Overview:
We are seeking passionate, wine-focused bartenders who view wine not just as a beverage, but as a craft, a story, and a means of connection. This role is ideal for someone eager to deepen their wine knowledge, guide guests through thoughtful recommendations, and contribute to a culture centered around hospitality and education.

Key Responsibilities:

Wine Service & Knowledge
• Confidently serve and discuss our wine list, including producers, regions, varietals, and styles
• Guide guests through selections based on their preferences, expanding their palate and experience
• Properly handle, store, open, and serve wine to preserve quality and presentation

Guest Experience & Hospitality
• Create meaningful guest interactions through thoughtful conversation and personalized recommendations
• Help cultivate Consigliere’s welcoming, culture-driven atmosphere
• Provide attentive, professional service while maintaining authenticity and warmth

Bar Execution & Operations
• Prepare and serve wine, cocktails, and other beverages with consistency and care
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar
• Complete opening, closing, and side work duties to ensure smooth service

Team Collaboration
• Work closely with team members to maintain efficient, seamless service
• Contribute positively to a team culture rooted in respect, professionalism, and shared growth

Wine Education & Development
• Participate in regular tastings, staff trainings, and ongoing wine education
• Stay informed on wine regions, producers, and trends—especially natural and low-intervention wines
• Grow as an ambassador of Consigliere’s wine program

Qualifications:
• 2+ years bartending experience, preferably in a wine bar, restaurant, or hospitality-focused environment
• Strong foundational wine knowledge (formal education is a plus but not required)
• Genuine passion for wine and hospitality
• Strong communication and guest engagement skills
• Professional, reliable, and team-oriented

• TIPS certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred but Not Required:
• Experience with natural, organic, or low-intervention wines
• Wine certifications (WSET, CMS, etc.)
• Interest in music, culture, and community-driven hospitality
