Position Overview

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic III is a seasoned maintenance professional responsible for performing complex repairs troubleshooting and preventative maintenance across plant facilities equipment and machinery. This role supports production operations by ensuring equipment reliability and operational efficiency. The individual will work under limited supervision and provide guidance and training to lower-level mechanics.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform maintenance and repair activities across plant or office facilities machinery and equipment.

• Work within one or more trades including carpentry plumbing painting electrical welding sheet metal fabrication and machine/equipment repair.

• Conduct routine periodic and special inspections to determine corrective actions and prevent equipment breakdowns.

• Utilize hand tools power tools testing equipment and precision instruments for maintenance tasks.

• Interpret and work from blueprints sketches wiring diagrams layouts and technical specifications.

• Troubleshoot test and repair machines and systems to restore optimal functioning.

Production Support

• Support manufacturing and distribution operations including assembly processing packaging and related equipment activities.

• Set up and operate automatic or semi-automatic machinery in a continuous production environment.

• Monitor equipment and report malfunctions or abnormalities; recommend or perform method or process adjustments as needed.

• Assist in inventory control shipping receiving and product storage within distribution centers.

Operational & Organizational Impact

• Perform tasks requiring sound judgment and responsible decision-making.

• Provide assistance on minor projects or special assignments in manufacturing or distribution environments.

• Engage in non-routine activities related to new processes tools or work streams.

Innovation & Problem-Solving

• Analyze general problems and propose independent solutions for supervisor review.

• Recommend or initiate minor changes to systems workflows or procedures to enhance job effectiveness.

Communication & Collaboration

• Communicate regularly with internal teams and external partners to exchange information of moderate complexity.

• Prepare and present information as needed to support maintenance and production activities.

Leadership & Training

• Mentor train and provide guidance to lower-level maintenance staff.

• Ensure adherence to safety standards operating procedures and maintenance best practices.

Required Knowledge Skills & Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in plant maintenance mechanical repair or related technical fields.

• Broad knowledge of operational systems mechanical processes and maintenance practices.

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints wiring diagrams and specifications.

• Proficiency in the use of hand tools power tools diagnostic equipment and fabrication tools.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments preferred.

• Education: High school diploma/GED or equivalent required.

• Vocational or technical certification in mechanical electrical or industrial maintenance is preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting bending standing climbing and operating machinery.

• Exposure to industrial working conditions including noise vibration moving equipment and varying temperatures.

• Must follow all safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE.
