POSITION DESCRIPTION

Alpha 3 is seeking a Civil Engineer to support power delivery and power generation projects through site development, grading, drainage, and permitting work.

This is a full-time position with a hybrid work schedule. Three days per week (typically Tuesday-Thursday) are expected to be in the office and two days per week from home. Preferred office location is Hamilton, NJ, other office locations may be available, depending on the candidate’s qualifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to design and analyze infrastructure for new and existing utility and industrial facilities.
• Typical responsibilities include preparing calculations, specifications, construction drawings, and permit packages related to stormwater systems, roadway access, site layout, and earthwork.
• Engineers in this role will also coordinate with project managers, contractors, utility clients, and permitting agencies to ensure technically sound and constructible designs.
• Depending on project scope, the engineer may guide junior staff and support field verification and construction coordination efforts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate degree in civil engineering (BSCE) from an ABET-accredited program; master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on power/energy infrastructure preferred
• At least two years of demonstrated experience in civil site planning
• Prior experience in the design of substations, power plants, or transmission and distribution projects is required
• PE license, or the ability to obtain one once experience requirement are met
• Experience with site development, grading, access roads, stormwater management, oil containment, and utility drainage systems
• Familiarity with NJ permitting processes and agency coordination for utility-scale projects
• Ability to perform site visits and walkdowns as required
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and design tools such as StormCad, PondPack, and AutoTurn
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work on a team and on multiple projects
• Ability to understand and incorporate comments and feedback
• Ability to adapt to various client standards and procedures
• Personal time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines
• Attention to detail and pride in work product quality

Salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
