Position Overview:
The Designer will collaborate with a cross-functional team to innovate and enhance our product line through the application of new technologies and design strategies. This role is pivotal in driving value by addressing customer and market needs and identifying effective approaches for product improvements and cost reductions. The Designer will support the design process for products, ensuring that all designs meet customer specifications, including design, functionality, material, and testing requirements, while adhering to established cost targets.
Responsibilities:
- Apply advanced design techniques and technologies to create innovative solutions and optimize product performance.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings, documentation packages and specifications.
- Research design options and perform experiments to determine feasibility
- Update and maintain history documentation.
- Prepare bills of materials and costing.
- Instrumental member of the ECO process and execution of enhancing existing product designs and engineering documentation
- Support in the creation of solid works 3D and 2D drawings for product offerings.
- Ability to have a clear understanding of the department’s processes of building products (standard and customized).
- Participate in team meetings, create and maintain project timelines and action items through implementation.
Qualifications:
- Two year technology degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in Drafting/Design using Solid Works
- Proficiency in Solid Works is required.
- Experience with PDM or similar Data Management systems is beneficial.
- Experience/Knowledge of Design for manufacturing principles
- Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP).
- Comfortable working with hand tools.
- Product design experience.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic controls, machining operations, welding, and brazing.
- Solid analytical skills are required.
- Must work precisely, accurately, and with close attention to all details.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
