Job Title: Project Manager – Heavy Civil & Excavation
Location: New Jersey, United States
Compensation: $175,000 – $200,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus (commensurate with experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and oversee large-scale excavation and heavy civil construction projects from inception through completion. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing complex site development, earthwork, utility, and infrastructure projects while ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a senior-level leadership opportunity for a results-driven professional with strong project management expertise and extensive experience in heavy civil construction operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of excavation and heavy civil construction projects, from pre-construction planning through project closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify and mitigate risks, delays, and cost impacts.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies.
- Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and change orders.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Oversee procurement activities, subcontractor performance, and contract administration.
- Manage project financials, including forecasting, cost control, billing, and reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project execution and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of project management experience in excavation, earthwork, site development, or heavy civil construction.
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale civil construction projects.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, estimating, and contract management.
- Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders in fast-paced construction environments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as PMP or CCM are a plus.
- Experience managing public infrastructure, transportation, utility, or large-scale site development projects.
- Strong knowledge of excavation methodologies, grading, utility installation, and heavy equipment operations.
