Lead Shop Technician ( {{city}})

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Shop Technician to assist in overseeing the repair and rebuild operations of medical equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires extensive mechanical and electrical knowledge of medical equipment or a related field. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience supervising multiple production areas and technicians.
Summary / Objective
The Lead Shop Technician is a hands-on position responsible for repairing, rebuilding, and quality checking medical equipment to support equipment sales orders. This role includes quoting customer repairs, assigning and managing daily tasks for the production team, and working directly on machines as part of the rebuild and repair process. The technician will also provide guidance and support to other team members, troubleshoot technical issues, and help keep work moving efficiently and safely. This position reports to the Shop Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and participate in repair and rebuild projects for various medical equipment
- Manage daily work schedules and prioritize assignments
- Evaluate and quote inbound customer equipment for repair
- Rebuild and repair histology machines and related lab equipment
- Identify required parts and submit requests for ordering
- Ensure the shop remains clean, organized, and properly equipped
- Maintain oversight of tools and equipment
- Transport and deliver equipment as needed
- Provide daily support and direction for three shop technicians
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment
Skills and Competencies
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability
- Proficient in setting up and operating programmable equipment
- Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
- Fast learner with adaptability in a dynamic environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Valid drivers license is required
Travel Requirements
This role may occasionally require delivering or transporting equipment to customer locations.
