About the Role:
The Operating Room Radiology Technologist plays a critical role in supporting surgical teams by providing high-quality intraoperative imaging services. This position requires the technologist to operate radiologic equipment in the operating room environment, ensuring accurate and timely imaging to assist surgeons during procedures. The technologist must maintain strict adherence to safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and themselves from unnecessary radiation exposure. Collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff is essential to facilitate smooth workflow and optimal patient outcomes. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the success of surgical interventions by delivering precise diagnostic images in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT or equivalent) with current licensure to practice in New Jersey.
- Experience operating radiologic equipment in a surgical or operating room setting.
- Knowledge of radiation safety standards and infection control procedures.
- Ability to work with flexible availability to accommodate surgical schedules.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical teams.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certification or training in operating room radiology or intraoperative imaging.
- Experience working in a hospital or surgical center environment.
- Familiarity with advanced imaging modalities such as fluoroscopy.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced clinical settings.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and operate radiologic equipment to capture intraoperative images as requested by the surgical team.
- Position patients and equipment appropriately to obtain clear and accurate images while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control protocols within the operating room environment.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons and other operating room personnel to anticipate imaging needs during procedures.
- Ensure all imaging equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for use at all times.
- Document procedures and maintain accurate records of imaging performed during surgeries.
- Monitor radiation safety standards and implement protective measures for patients and staff.
- Respond promptly to urgent imaging requests and adapt to changing surgical schedules as needed.
