Vice President Human Resources
About the Role
The Vice President Human Resources is responsible for the strategic human resource planning to provide Ocean Resort Casino with the best people talent available and to position the company as the employer of choice by being aware of policies, practices, and trends within the gaming industry.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for policies and programs covering employment, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, recruiting and retention, either directly or through the Human Resources Team.
- Responsible for assuring the ability of the company to attract, develop and retain the employees needed to achieve the company's goals.
- Participate in the development of company's plans and programs as a strategic partner from the perspective of their impact on people.
- Participate in the development of the property's strategies to include plans and programs as a strategic partner but particularly from the perspective of the impact on people. Evaluates and advises on the impact of long range planning of new programs and strategies and their impact on the team members of the company.
- Develop progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance.
- Ensures the strict adherence to employment law/equal opportunity guidelines and regulation, local as well as federal guidelines.
- Responsible for all issues from an employee relations standpoint including Hostile Work environment complaints, Sexual harassment, EEOC complaints, etc.
- Provides guidance and recommendations on issues such as staffing & recruitment, employment laws, salary administration and current company policy.
- Manage other areas such as relocation, employee communication, employee safety and health and community relations
- Manage the budget and other financial measures of the Human Resources Department
- Responsible for building and sustaining positive relationships with bargaining units and will play a key role in negotiating agreements between Ocean Resort Casino and the labor organization. He or she is the subject matter expert on all matters regarding the labor contract.
- Plays a principal role in developing a comprehensive labor strategy for Ocean Resort Casino by leveraging their in-depth knowledge of labor law, bargaining procedures, economic data and wage data.
Essential Functions
- Exposure to casino related environmental factors including but not limited to second hand smoke, excessive noise and high volume environments
- Exposure to stress situations related to servicing clients in a high pressure and fast paced environment
- Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts and/or unusual hours
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
- Seven to ten years related experience preferably in a casino, hotel, resort or a hospitality-based business environment.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English
- Ability to obtain a Key License through the NJCCC/DGE
